Many students from all around the globe dream of living and studying in London. But the cost of living and studying here can get a little expensive when compared to other countries for Higher education. So a lot of students decide to become employed and work so that they have additional income during their stay in the UK. Also According to employment law UK, International students are allowed to work with certain restrictions and they have to follow rules.

Various Jobs For International Students In the United Kingdom.

The laws for work in the UK for international students are ever-changing and are as follows-

Points to be avoided

For all International students, There are some employment laws in UK students must keep in mind when undertaking jobs in the UK as an international student.

If students are allowed to work in the UK, they cannot do as follows

  • Being employed as a doctor or dentist in training
  • Being employed as a professional sportsperson.
  • Being employed as an entertainer.
  • Being self-employed
  • Being engaged in business activity.
  • Filling a full-time, permanent vacancy except on a recognized foundation Program or where you are filling a post as a Student Union Sabbatical Officer.

International students should keep in mind that if they break any laws relating to their work, they can be deported, and also they can face legal repercussions, which will be detrimental to the student's career. Students shouldn’t solely rely on what they earn as part-time employment cannot solely sustain the living costs in the UK and also Most importantly, focus on their studies, money should not be their main concern. They will have plenty of time for that after their completion of studies.

It takes a lot of courage to study abroad as many students overcome financial strains in order to attend university in the UK. Also Undertaking part-time work can be essential for international students not only for the money you can earn but also for the valuable experience of meeting new people and becoming part of a new culture and accepting it.

For numerous  Indian students who’ve done their graduation from Indian universities understand the time constraints during their university days. As their Lectures from 9 am till 4 pm, sometimes till 5 pm which gives them limited time to study or work part-time. Though still if they manage to get a part-time opportunity during the college, the pay is too less that they prefer to not do it and utilize the time for studying instead of doing some leisure activities, also because it's not the part of our culture. Managing time and study As the students are allowed to work a maximum of 20 hours a week, according to the visa regulations. International Students can work 4-5 hour shifts here and there in their free time, mostly on weekends. But just because the Tier 4 visa allows International students to work a maximum of 20 hours, it doesn’t mean they can. Every university has different rules and regulations when it comes to allowing students to work. For instance, Cambridge University doesn’t allow students to work more than 10 hours. Though some universities allow you to work the full 20 hours during your term. Also During the holiday period, students could work full-time, for 40 hours a week and for that, they need to take permission from the university stating these are the Easter holidays or Christmas holidays.
