Whilst pursuing a career in medicine it is vital to choose an institute that can satisfy all the students’ needs from infrastructure and faculty to environment and experience. Though most of these qualities are available in our very own institutes, gaining admission is slightly more cumbersome due to tough competition and financial strains. Thus many students prefer to study abroad, where the admission process is easier, fees are similar or lesser and the quality of education is sublime.

An ideal choice for students, looking for affordable and high-quality education, is to study in Europe. Many European countries offer medical courses at very reasonable fees. 

Western Europe

Germany

Studying in German public universities is cost-free, though passing a course in German is mandatory. The education is highly esteemed around the world with its universities like LMU Munich, Technical University of Munich, and Heidelberg University all in the top 50 world rank. The cost of living in Germany isn’t very high compared to other European countries and the rent costs are quite reasonable and regulated, hence affordable for students.

Scandinavia

 Scandinavian countries like Finland and Norway offer free of cost tuition in their public universities if studied in their native language. Top-quality education with world-class facilities and also a beautiful country to live in, are things to look forward to in studying here. The University of Helsinki and the University of Oslo are great for students, who get the benefits of living in the city and also of the university like libraries and lectures. Though these countries have higher living costs, the educational standards are incomparable, and choosing the right institute according to financial budgets can get everything a student needs.

France

Studying in France is quite a reasonable option as the fees are affordable, while students also get the advantage of living in France and immersing themselves in its rich culture and cuisine. Courses are also available in English and Indian students can even apply for scholarships. Paris Descartes University Medical School and the University of Burgundy are some colleges in France.

Central and Eastern Europe

Georgia

Getting admission to universities in Georgia is easy and affordable. The average fees for a course in medicine are between 2 to 5 lakh a year which is comparable or even lesser than that in India, and there is also the added advantage of getting admission without having to worry about the number of seats. The standards of education and infrastructure are high and recognized by international standards. The University of Georgia and the Tbilisi medical academy are some universities that offer admission and do not require an entrance exam.

 Poland, Ukraine, and Russia have very low tuition and cost of living while maintaining a high standard of education in institutes that are globally recognized. Institutes in these countries are more suitable for students looking for lower fees but no compromise in education.

The requirements for most institutes will vary but generally require 12 passed with science (with 50% grades), NEET qualified, English language tests qualified (TOEFL, IELTS), other language tests for courses taught in other languages.

 These countries have a rich native culture, giving students a chance to experience events, visit places, and learn things they haven’t before. The medical infrastructures, equipment, and staff these countries have to offer are a great opportunity for students. They meet students and faculty from around the world and this helps them to learn things in a new manner and even share their own culture. Initially, it can seem to be a big change, from familiar to entirely foreign environments, but moving out of their comfort zones will eventually help them to grow as individuals.
