STUDY PERMIT

Foreign students need to acquire a study permit, apart from a student visa.

 It is valid for as long as the course lasts and an additional 2 months. Students’ first need to apply for a study permit (if a course lasts more than 6 months)

Once that is approved; a visitor visa or electronic transfer authorization (ETA) is issued.

 It can be applied online.

It costs around CAD$150 and takes about 20 days for processing.

These are the following requirements:

  • Acceptance letter

  • Identity proof

  • Proof of financial stability

STUDENT VISA

Apart from the student permit, they will also require a visa. Indian students can apply through the student direct stream which will help them get the visa faster. There are language requirements such as IELTS or TOEFL. 

These are the following requirements for acquiring the visa:

  • Passport

  • Acceptance letter

  • Proof of financial stability

  • Immigration medical examination

  • Language proficiency test

Due to COVID-19, the fees, processing durations, and other details may vary.

According to the Government of Canada to protect the Canadians from the outbreak of COVID-19, the Prime Minister announced travel restrictions that limit travel to Canada. Until further notice, most foreign nationals cannot travel to Canada, even if they have a valid visitor visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA).

These restrictions stop most non-essential (discretionary) travel to Canada.
