The BMAT is an aptitude test for students who will pursue a degree in medicine, dentistry, Biomedicine, and other medical-related courses in countries such as the UK, Spain, Hungary, Croatia, Netherlands, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.

About the exam:

The exam is considered to be difficult as the questions are not all of the same types. The students are tested on a wide range of subjects and different abilities are tested.

The test has a 2-hour duration and consists of 3 sections:

  •  Aptitude and skills- this section will test general mental aptitude to solve problems, understand, and analyze information.

  • Scientific knowledge and applications- The questions in this section are based on school-based knowledge in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

  •  Writing task- Students are given 3 questions to choose from and write an essay on the chosen topic. This section seeks to understand the students’ literary skills to clearly analyze and convey information in an effective manner.

Some additional information-

  • The results take nearly 4 weeks after the test date.

  • The test score will be valid only for 1 year. Hence students should find universities that require the test and apply accordingly, to manage the result timing and admission date.

  • The test doesn’t allow the usage of calculators and dictionaries.

  • The standard fee is around 78 pounds.

Preparation:

  • As the test only assesses the students on general knowledge that is obtained from the school, students needn’t worry about massive extra preparation for the exam.

  • It is still recommended to take practice tests to obtain a highly appreciated score.

  • The official website of the Cambridge Assessment Admissions Testing will provide free information, practice papers, and materials.

  • Students can even choose to take private tutoring for preparation if needed.

  • Students should practice at least a few hours every-day to maintain a consistent preparation for the exam.
