Heartiest congratulations to you for making out through the lengthy but worthy process of getting admission and study visa. You are just one step away from living your dreams. You are about to commence a new chapter in your life, witness enthralling experiences, and meet new people from different cultures. You must be feeling overwhelmed with all these emotions and a little sad as well since you have to move away from your parents and family. You will feel homesick for the initial months but as we all know, life is a roller coaster ride and thus, it will make you encounter some of the greatest things in your life. You will surely get used to all this but to start your journey, you have to reach the study destination. For which, you have to do a lot of preparation. 

In the enthusiasm, many students forget to take some of the crucial things with them and we don’t want you to experience the same thing. Therefore, we have prepared a well-elaborated list of things that are very crucial for you to take with you. 

Before mentioning the list of crucial items, there are certain things which you should do or should have done till now: 

  • You should have arranged the accommodation for you for the next few months. 

  • Get yourself a bank account opened in an overseas bank.

  • Book your tickets in advance to avail the discounts, extra luggage coverage, etc. 

  • Check the expiry date of your passport beforehand. 

  • Obtain the student health insurance plan as required by your university. 

  • Purchase a forex card and use it to make day-to-day payments. 

  • Book in advance for getting yourself picked up from the airport. 

  • Don’t forget to apply for a college photo identity card. 

  • Keep at least Rs 50,000 in terms of foreign currency with you.

  1. Clothes and footwear – Take into account the weather and climate of the city where you are going to live and then keep the clothes and footwear accordingly.

  • Sweaters and Jackets (According to the weather) 

  • Caps, belts, scarves, etc

  • Handkerchiefs, socks, etc

  1. Electronic items – Some Indian electronic items does not work in foreign nations. Therefore, only take necessary electronic items which are mentioned below:

  • Chargers and USB cable

  • Laptop and tablets

  • Headphones

  1. Medicines – Take some medicines that suit you for cough, cold, fever, etc. 

  • Paracetamol

  • Cough syrups

  • Ointments

  • Painkillers

  • Bandages

  • Antibiotics

  1. Toiletries – Take toiletries for at least 2 weeks with you so that you can sustain yourself for some time till you get acquainted with the city.
