India has realized that the power to transform from a developing country to a developed country, sprawls in the education system. Education is the key to surmount challenges in every sector such as economic, social, industrial, etc. Although, higher education has a distinctive significance in the lives of youth, the pillars of the future. Higher education is a way for a child to endeavor a splendid future. A student solicits a comprehensive skillset, exceptional knowledge, a gratifying job, etc throughout their higher education but a handful of students have access to all the elements. The fault is in the structure of our higher education system that our country is still struggling with. More and more students prefer to study abroad because of the reliability and international standards of higher education provided by different nations. With the implementation of many programs to ensure that the Right to Education is followed, India has witnessed astounding expansion in the enrolments in higher education but Indian students continue to suffer stern provocations. 

Despite counting the challenges, the Indian higher education system is standing, we should seize the opportunities which are lying untouched in front of us. Some of the opportunities are listed below which are ready to modify our education system to face the competition of other nations’ education system. 

  1. There is an opportunity to inculcate engagement exercises in the education process through strategic planning and add the excitement element to the activities. Through these activities, students will learn the quintessential skills of leadership and management which are required in every domain.  

  1. Education and knowledge should be imparted on digital platforms as the digital audience has progressed tremendously and new-age learning tools are quite appealing due to their interactive nature which can cover a large audience within seconds. Also, the usage of advanced digital teaching and learning tools is trending nowadays and youth is very enthusiastic to follow trends. 

  1. India has the scope to collaborate with other nations to bring systematic reforms in the educational framework, work for international recognition and ensure quality standards comply with the international criteria. International support is the need to uplift our pedagogy system in every prospect and establish authenticity. This will benefit both our country’s relations with other countries and a secure future for students with infinite possibilities to grow.  

  1. Indian institutes should collaborate with enterprises and growing companies to train students and recruit them. This will help students to grow their network and learn industry skills under one roof. They won’t have to rush somewhere to gain industry exposure. The employability of Indian graduates will rise ultimately, leading to a transformation as a developed country. 

  1. A platform where students can speak and present their opinions freely without any fear of losing marks or anything. Sometimes, one of these opinions can give birth to a great invention. This will help to nourish the bond and bilateral harmony of higher education and students through unconditional support. 


  1. Seminars, workshops, conferences enable to exchange of thoughts and develop understanding between scholars for different nations. Access to these engagement activities should not be limited to some students. Arrangements should be made on a large scale so that every student can participate in these activities and represent India with pride. 

  1. A structured curriculum and a path full of opportunities should be available for students with emerging interests in vocational subjects. Well-equipped teaching practices should be followed to ensure an effective learning process. 


  1. Infrastructural changes are required in the structure of colleges and universities to appeal to students. An educational institution should have lecture halls, seminar rooms, well-equipped smart board facilities, projectors, etc. Infrastructure design plays an important role in drawing the attention of students. 


  1. Internships, live projects, practical learning, industry visits should become compulsory during higher education to ensure an interactive learning process. Retention of students’ interest is only possible through these activities included in our curriculum in good proportion.
