Step 1: Check if you need Visa 

Students from some nations are exempted from visas. You must check before applying for a visa. You can check if you need a visa or not from https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-visa/y. This will also tell you the type of visa you need according to your study requirements. 

Step 2: Obtain an offer letter from the university

The foremost requirement to be eligible for a student visa in the UK is that you are accepted by any university of the United Kingdom in their course or program. 

Step 3: Apply for Student Visa 

After obtaining the acceptance letter, you have a guarantee that you have been admitted to one of the universities of the UK. After this is assured, you can apply for a student visa online. 

Step 4: Pay the cost of Student Visa 

According to the amount specified by the government of the United Kingdom, £348 is the cost of a student visa which you need to pay. 

Step 5: Submit the required documents 

You need to submit supporting documents verifying your identity, financial statements, and everything. The list of documents is given below: 

  • Acceptance letter from the university in which you got admission.
  • Your passport
  • Two passport size photographs
  • Your bank statements showing that you are able to bear the cost of education abroad along with living costs. 
  • Medical health report along with the report of tuberculosis test.
  • Passing results in the Secure English Language Test (SELT) proving your knowledge of the English language.  

Step 6: Wait for your visa approval

Once you apply for a student visa, you’ll be contacted as you need to attend an interview. After giving an interview, it will take a maximum of 3 weeks to come to a decision for your visa. Till then, you can see what you can take to the country and what you cannot. 

Step 7: Travel to the United Kingdom 

Once you get approval for your visa from the embassy of the United Kingdom, you can plan your visit to the country. Remember, if your course is shorter than 6 months, then you can arrive UK 1 week before your course starts. If your course is longer than 6 months, then you have to arrive one month before your course starts.
