There are three types of study visa provided by the UK government:
Short-term study visa :
This visa type is ideal for those who want to do a short course of study in the UK, are from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, and meet the eligibility requirements like adequate finances, offer letter from the university, accommodation, etc.
The earliest one can apply for the visa is 3 months before the course starts. Usually, the office will take 3 weeks to respond to your request.
The fee costs 97 euros for a 6-month visa and 186 euros for an 11-month visa.
General student visa (Tier 4):
This visa type allows anyone who is above 16 years of age, fluent in English speaking, reading, and writing, have the offer letter from the university, have adequate funds to support the expense of the course, travel, accommodation, etc., are from a country outside of EEA and Switzerland. Children under 18 years of age will need the permission of their parents or guardians.

Child students visa (Tier 4):
This visa type permits students from the age of 4 to 17 to study at an independent school in the UK, given that the student has a place on the course, adequate funds to cover the living and traveling cost, consent of the parents or guardians, is from a country that’s not a part of EEA or Switzerland.

Students under the age of 16 can stay up to 6 years (plus 4 months afterward).
Students 16 or 17years of can stay up to 3 years (plus 4 months afterward).
You can arrive in the UK up to 1 week before your course starts if your course lasts 6 months or less. Up to 1 month before your course starts if your course lasts more than 6 months
