Karnataka State Dr. Gangubhai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, also abbreviated as KSGH Music and Performing Arts University,is a public university exclusively dedicated to the study and research of music and performing arts. It was established by the Government of Karnataka. It is functioning from a heritage building (its temporary campus) in the Lakshmipuram area of Mysore. It is named after Gangubhai Hangal.It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses.The university was founded on 14 February 2008 and formally established by the State Government of Karnataka through the Karnataka State Dr Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University Act, 2009 which was duly passed in State Legislature.The main goal is to make music and performing arts an opportunity for learners and enthusiasts to accept the challenge of providing a life and livelihood. In doing so, the phenomenon is the realization of the inclusion of music and performing arts in the mainstream of knowledge in the state and nation.Traditional arts and the rest of Karnataka’s intangible heritage, music and performing arts are a treasured repository of our traditional knowledge system. As such, having a unique cultural dimension to the educational culture, reaching out to members of the broader society through the use of universal medical record keeping techniques is a matter of great concern and must be prioritized
