Donna-Lynn Leblanc and Sheila Nunn are the owners of ECLC and they are in the college every day because they still love what they do! They are passionate about supporting students and staff and empowering people to achieve their goals. Donna and Sheila are supported by an amazing team of administrators, instructors, homestay families, and other partners. These relationships are the key to ECLC’s success. ECLC opened its doors in 1998 and started with humble beginnings – three classrooms, three teachers, and three students! We grew by word of mouth because students loved the personal attention they received and the high academic quality of the classes. Students trust us – we deliver what we say we will – and they know they will be treated with respect and kindness. Our staff members all adhere to the same important values because they are also passionate about the support and success of our students. Our passions extend outside the college – we support and empower others less fortunate by offering a helping hand through KIVA business loans around the world, regular monthly charity donations both locally and internationally, sponsorship of children and families in various countries, and by donating to initiatives that promote learning for all, regardless of economic situation or gender. As the oldest language school in Halifax still owned by the original owners, ECLC is a well-respected leader in the language training community. East Coast Language College occasionally looks for qualified staff to join our team. The core values - achievement, support, passion, integrity, respect, and empowerment – are the heart of ECLC and top priority for our teachers. These values combined with professionalism, experience and dedication is what makes our teachers unique. All of our teachers are highly trained in bringing quality education to our students. We have post-secondary degrees in various fields and specialities and hold TESL Canada recognized certification. Some of us are teacher trainers as well! We are passionate about education and are involved in professional development on a regular basis. Therefore, only the most current teaching methods and techniques are used to bring effective and dynamic lessons to the classroom. We strive to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where we can get to know our students on a personal level and focus on their individual needs to help them reach their language goals. It is mandatory for international students to provide proof of health insurance when studying in Canada.
